Music Extravaganza Marks Spring
The annual Belmont City College Spring Concert Series begins next week. This year, attendees are in for a treat of eclectic musical stylings ranging from African drumming beats to hard rock.
The series, set to begin on Wednesday the 16th, is the product of months of hard work and preparation by music students at BCC and within the community, all headed by Miss Savanna Griechen who has worked tirelessly to ensure that this concert is the best we have seen yet.
“I’m very proud of the effort that my students have put in over the term.” Griechen responded positively when asked about the preparations that her department had put into the showcase.
“They have a chance now to show BCC and the community what they are capable of as young musicians. They are performing to a standard that would make any music teacher proud.”
The series, which runs on Wednesday and Thursday of week 9, is running very different shows on both nights.
Audiences on Wednesday night can expect to see the Senior and Junior concert bands performing. The bands are comprised of students from within Belmont City College and 70 students from the college’s feeder primary schools.
Lots of theme music from classics such as Rocky and the Phantom of the Opera will be played, as well as a special guest performance from the Southlake Concert Band.
Thursday night is slightly different with an African Drumming performance from the year 8 music students followed up by a rock show from Abusive Honour, BCC’s contemporary rock band. They will be performing covers from Greenday, AC/DC and The Killers. There will also be solo singing performances on the evening.
Tickets for the event are on sale. Adults can expect to pay just $7, while students and concession card holders will pay $4. $20 will get you a family pass.
